Brandy Long Shank
This pipe is just an absolute stunner to me. There’s a lot of personality and charm packed into this long shanked brandy from Michele. The bowl is robust, carrying that familiar, full-bodied brandy shape you would expect, but I love the fact that Michele stretches the piece’s profile with the use of this long section of natural bamboo. The bamboo, alongside the bowl’s natural color and gentle blast, gives the pipe a wonderfully organic appearance without making it feel rough or overworked. I especially love the contrast between the bamboo and briar’s warmth against the deep bluish green stem and matching accent on the shank. I think it works incredibly well and ultimately gives this piece a lovely woodland quality.
The briar itself reveals a dense grain that climbs vertically around the bowl before ending in a rugged plateau rim, while a field of birdseye reveals itself across the bowl's heel. The ability for Michele to follow the block instead of forcing it into perfect uniformity is something I appreciate about this particular brandy. Even with its generous bowl and elongated proportions, the pipe retains the slender visual balance Brentegani Pipes are known for. It’s elegant, distinctly Italian, and just unconventional enough to make you keep looking.
