That’s essentially how the catalogue of established Danish pipe shapes came to be. Michele’s take on this Danish freehand has this wonderful forward momentum to it. The bowl rises into a sharp, asymmetrical rim (which I am personally obsessed with) before sweeping back downward to the bottom of the bowl and back into the longer, stouter shank. That shank is capped with a beautifully dual-toned piece of horn, shifting from a brighter, creamy complexion on one flank to a deeper, earthy brown tone on the other. The horn accent then cleanly transitions us to the pipe’s rich burgundy stem which features just the slightest bend. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eMichele has created a sweet piece with a naturally clean flowing silhouette, and for a pipe with this much visual presence, it weighs just 23 grams. Tight, rippling growth rings travel around the bowl in distinct waves, becoming especially prominent and proud from the bottom of the bowl, up the front face, and around the left side of the pipe. The shape reads predominantly as a Billiard, though the bowl’s subtle flare and added fullness toward the heel bring in just a hint of that Brandy. The blast accentuates the grain while still respecting the clean simplicity of that familiar silhouette.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThat said, Michele adds some personality to the shape with a beautiful \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBrentegani\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e touch: fine, colorful accents and a satisfying olive-green ebonite stem. I really like his use of the olivewood and amaranth accent rings. Together, they introduce just a bit of flash at the transition without competing with the briar. The bamboo, alongside the bowl’s natural color and gentle blast, gives the pipe a wonderfully organic appearance without making it feel rough or overworked. I especially love the contrast between the bamboo and briar’s warmth against the deep bluish green stem and matching accent on the shank. I think it works incredibly well and ultimately gives this piece a lovely woodland quality. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe briar itself reveals a dense grain that climbs vertically around the bowl before ending in a rugged plateau rim, while a field of birdseye reveals itself across the bowl's heel. The ability for Michele to follow the block instead of forcing it into perfect uniformity is something I appreciate about this particular brandy. Even with its generous bowl and elongated proportions, the pipe retains the slender visual balance Brentegani Pipes are known for. Michele allows that character to remain at the forefront here, as the wood’s deeply textured finish reveals the wandering, almost topographical grain around the bowl before drawing us into sleek, horizontal lines across the shank. Its low, broadly rounded bowl transitions into a healthy shank and gently tapered stem, giving all that darkness a remarkably graceful profile. A warm, translucent horn accent interrupts the near-black morta before giving way to a rich, ruby-red stem, which introduces color without taking away from the wood and its natural dark quality.
